The Jeffrey, an affordable housing project features a tranquil inner courtyard that provides an enjoyable, comfortable community space and a retreat for residents. The project is critical to maintaining diversity in the city’s burgeoning redevelopment areas and offers programs to help improve lives socially & economically. Benches under the shade trees are surrounded by a mix of native and drought tolerant plantings that bring familiarity and comfort to the setting.

KLA designed two spiraling downspouts that guide roof stormwater into large ceramic basins in the courtyard. The basins reduce the energy of the stormwater and overflow into a eco-friendly stormwater flow-through planter. Residents become spectators to the playful water show.
