Portland’s South Riverfront is the home of The Riva on the Park a 22 story LEED Gold Certified apartment tower overlooking Caruthers Park. The landscape design includes multiple levels of roof gardens, private terraces, eco roofs, and townhome terraces along SW Lane, a pedestrian green street.

Riva’s fifth floor podium level roof garden has structured parking beneath and features a green roof system utilizing both intensive and extensive eco roof technologies. The expansive podium level garden is designed as open space relief for residents and stormwater mitigation. It features circular and elliptical islands of lush but drought tolerant plantings, a boardwalk leading to a multimedia room, spa, outdoor fireplace and patio.

The 22nd floor tower roof exclusively uses an thin extensive ecoroof system heavily ballasted against wind uplift. Together with the podium level, nearly one acre of green roof provides stormwater mitigation within the limits of the property. This is an essential principle of sustainability and addresses Portland’s progressive building standards.

The adjacent Lane Street Pedestrian Walkway is also part of the District’s Green Access Ways principle. KLA’s design includes bio swales and flanking canopy of trees that in concert with adjacent walks, lead toward the Willamette River Greenway.
