The Marvel 29 Apartments are a full block apartment and retail development at the center of the historic St. Johns which lay at the north end of the picturesque St. Johns Bridge. This project features a central courtyard that serves as a common living room for all residents. Using a nautical theme to embrace its historic context of river trade and commerce, the courtyard garden, built over a structural slab with parking below, features stormwater planters that mitigate all the roof top runoff. It features unique materials and amenities including shipyard remnants such as a giant ship anchor, dock tie-off bollard and sections of heavy anchor chain arranged as sculptural décor.  The soothing sound from a water feature, salvaged milled timber bench seating and a curvilinear weathered steel retaining wall all hearken back to the log raft days of Portland’s Stumptown roots. Three cozy niches for small group and family outdoor gatherings are equipped with barbeque facilities for easy access and use.
