128 State Street Apartments was an exciting and fast paced design challenge.  Midway through construction the project was sold and the new owner asked KLA to intervene and redesign the courtyard landscape. In a matter of weeks KLA had a new design ready for implementation without impacting the construction schedule or project completion date.

Constructed on the roof of a basement parking structure, existing structural site conditions including loading restrictions and drainage constraints drove the landscape design. Contemporary furnishings, privacy screens, lighting and potted plants were added.

Corten steel planters were constructed for a central green area replacing the earlier proposed paving. The sculpture, already purchased by the previous owners, was integrated into the newly designed social space.

KLA prides ourselves on having an in depth working knowledge of the technical constraints and opportunities of roof gardens allowing us to work efficiently in a fast paced industry.
