KLA planned and designed “Festiv15th”, a pedestrian-friendly, vehicle calming street that will enliven the historic OceanLake hamlet main street and encourage new and existing commercial and mixed-use development. At 700+ feet long and with 30 feet of elevation change, this project stretches from Highway 101 to a vehicle accessible beach ramp entry, a cherished amenity among local residents and summer vacationers.

The beach combers and scallywags that access the ocean shoreline by way of 15th street provided inspiration for the design of a landmark archway featuring the most treasured beachcomber find; a sand dollar. Highly detailed wood and iron supports anchor the arching OceanLake name and two flanking giant copper sand dollars. Native coastal shore pines create an evergreen alley complete with sustainable permeable paving in parking bays, traffic-calming chicanes and intersection improvements that help define this people-oriented street as an amenity to the community. KLA also developed a plan to phase public and private investment on publicly owned property to fill the gaps in the historic main street environment.

Information gathered from public meetings and coordination with Lincoln City’s Urban Renewal Agency helped guide the final design for OceanLake’s Festiv15th Street. KLA was prime consultant for a design team of local and regional subconsultants including Field Engineering (Civil), Reyes Engineering (Electrical) and Grummel Engineering (Structural). KLA led the Team through schematic design, development, construction documentation and specifications.
