KLA is collaborating with Hill Architects and Sisul Engineering to create a unique celebration of past, present, and future at the End of the Oregon Trail in Oregon City, Oregon.

Just steps from the historic culmination of the famous overland trail, the design of Abernethy Place will celebrate the cultural significance of the site through interpretive artwork, as well as providing native plantings that the pioneers would have encountered upon arriving in the Willamette Valley. While the design alludes to the past, it provides an integrated modern aesthetic that has come to be expected of Koch Landscape Architecture.

Phase 1 of the project, featuring new plantings around the historic Hackett House and a new Hampton Inn and Suites, is in the Construction Document stage and is due to begin work in late 2017. Phase 2, which will provide retail spaces and multi-family housing, is in its early design phases.
