In collaboration with Hill Architects, KLA provided a development proposal to Mountain West Investment Corporation who had acquired a derelict Weyerhaeuser Paper processing warehouse and vacant property in the central district of Salem. The site, strategically located at the confluence of Pringle Creek and the Willamette River make it a prime location for a variety of dense urban uses. Brown field issues and market demand were analyzed to ensure a well balanced mix of residential, office and retail opportunities. Visual and physical access to Pringle Creek and the Willamette River enticed the public into dialogue about highest and best use of the property. KLA and Hill Architect created a new vision for the property and public access while taking advantage of remnant structures, the lore or historic artifacts and the adjacent active train trestle.
