The Hoyt Arboretum has one of the largest and oldest collections of Giant Sequoia and Coast Redwood trees in the Pacific Northwest. Degraded trail conditions were prohibiting visitors from experiencing this rare treasure. Koch Landscape Architecture teamed with Ceccacci Associates to analyze the access trail system throughout the entire vicinity and make recommendations for phased improvements. Today, the arboretum boasts a much improved trail width, ADA surface, overlook deck and interpretive displays that will make this a more distinctive destination for visitors. The Hoyt Arboretum Sequoia Grove Deck employs low-impact and sustainable construction techniques including the use of recycled timbers, pin-pile support posts, pervious unit pavers and a limited amount of cast-in-place concrete.
