Backbridge Station is an ultra-modern mixed use project proposed for the Williams/Fremont area of North Portland. This lowrise solution to modern living combines ground floor retail with upper level condominium units.KLA’s landscape design complements the chic European building design by PATH Architecture and folds into it an unique approach to creating green solar foils of bamboo. Elevated planters carry tall stands of bamboo along the street faces of the condominiums reducing solar glare and wind exposure while creating a living screen for second, third and fourth floor living spaces.
Stormwater from the roof is also collected and brought down to the ground in an intriguing display of water play and public interaction.
This project will jump start the renewal of Portland’s inner east side redevelopment and become a model for a new local brand of contemporary living.
